BaptismWaterRomans 6:4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death, that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. Mark 1: 9-12 And it came about in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; and a voice came out of the heavens: "Thou art My beloved Son, in Thee I am well-pleased." And immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness. Water baptism is not salvation but an act of obedience. It is for a public declaration of the death of the old man and the resurrection of the new man. Truly an illustration of a spiritual undertaking. Must I be water baptized to go to heaven? Ask the thief upon the cross Luke 23: 42-43 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." Remember, this is our first act of obedience to the God.
Holy SpiritLuke 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?" Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Matthew 3:11 "I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Acts 19 Breaks down the fact that there is a separate experience to salvation. 1) salvation, 2) baptism in water, and 3) baptism of the Holy Spirit The baptism of the Holy Spirit is available to all Christians. All you have to do is ask of the Father, believe, and accept it by faith. Is it necessary for Salvation? Charles Finney says YES. But biblically it empowers the believer to be able to walk out the salvation with fear and trembling. By this impartation, their lives will be a witness and testimony for all to see. We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit gives you the strength to walk the walk. If you are not filled by the Holy Spirit you will have struggles in your walk because of the lack of power that the Holy Spirit has available for you. Remember the scripture says to be filled! Ephesians 5:18 .... but be filled with the Spirit, Must I Speak in Tongues? No you can, but it is not necessary. There are many gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Without the Love of God expressed through each of these gifts it is like a clanging cymbal. |
