Personally I prefer the New American Standard its tendencies to stay true to the text is important for me. The Amplified gives more meaning to many scriptures, and both King James versions have their poetic ring to scripture. NIV is a great translation for the new believer and those young in the Lord for the ease of understanding. The Bible is our love letter from God, it is our owners manual to our way of life, most importantly it should be lived through us not just read by us.
